State Capture: State Organs & Companies

Nothing can be more destructive and devastating to country, especially a country like South Africa, which is still trying to shake off the legacy of apartheid and inequality, when funds destined to uplift the poor, are instead unlawfully channelled to the deep pockets of those politically connected criminals under the guise of ‘business deals’. In this section, we will start building a repository of documents, which clearly show how the relationships between private persons and the ruling elite, led to the obscene situation, where foreigners are interviewing and deciding whom should be appointed to what position in government. The quid pro quo of the chosen ‘appointees’ to high office, including senior positions on state owned companies, such as Eskom, Transnet, SAA and so on, was that these appointees would be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams and, in return, would pay back their masters ten-fold, twenty-fold, or even a hundred-fold. The ANC, having survived over 100 years, first as a liberation movement and then as government, failed (miserably) to stop the rot within its leadership, resulting in the real possibility that the ANC would lose future opportunities to govern, as they have let down the poorest of the poor, in order to line the pockets of a select few.
